Default convert Club Car DS 04 to 48v

Someone told me that with the older club car 36v motors I can just put 6 8v batteries in my golf cart to convert it to 48v. and it will go WAY faster than it does with 36v now. the only thing I'm worried about is will it burn up the motor or anything like that? I know ill have to change the solenoid and get a new charger.

What somebody told you about the 36v motor is true but, If you're asking about running a resistor coil cart on 48v... it will have a melt down on 48v. There are conversion kits for this upgrade to solid state operation in 36 and 48v.

also I found high speed gear upgrades. for the axle(I think) and I was wondering...wouldn't it be cheaper to just do that instead of buying new batteries and the conversion kit and charger?
