Default 99 EZGO TXT Controller Problem?

I have a 99 TXT DCS and the controller is an Alltrax DCX400 DCS. When the accelerator pedal is pressed the cart stutters and jumps but when its pushed to the floor it goes full out. Reverse doesn' t work at all. So I jacked up the cart so I could see what light codes I was getting when the accel.pedal is pressed and the cart is in reverse. I get 5 red flashes from the controller diode which is "open field" according to the Alltrax documentation. I'm not sure exactly what open field means. The solenoid and the ITS unit have both been changed in an effort to sort out the cause of the problem. The batteries are new and I get a reference voltage of 38 volts. So, does this sound like the behaviour of a controller with a bad ground or a short?

Unfortunately it sounds like the controller full bridge Field driver is bad.

The two FETs used for the reverse current path are also used during the OFF cycle (freewheeling ) of the forward PWM. That would explain both of the symptoms.

Replace controller.

Thanks Sergio
