Burning up to many solenoids, PLEASE HELP
I changed all wires to batteries, f/r and motor to 2ga. Now I had to buy HD leaf because my 36v PQ motor on 48v broke one and made a S out of the other one. Now it will pull the front a lot easier but something is still wrong. The master solenoid is welded together. Was going to load it up on trailer and it was jumping to next speed. CAN ANYBODY HELP ME?????? I am tired of buying soleniod and them burning up. They are 48v solenoids could they be cheep ones? How can I check amps on motor? We have replaced 3-4 solenoids 2 with in 3 months!!!!!

Re: Burning up to many solenoids, PLEASE HELP
What company manufactures the solenoid and what is the model#?
I upgraded my cart to 48v and also have a PQ 36v motor. I'm running an Alltrax 4865 (650 amps) controller. upgraded f&r, all wires to 4g Here's my setup: The Solenoid is a MZJ-400D from EV drives. I bought the diode and resistor from EV Drives too. http://www.evdrives.com/contactors_mzj-400d.html |

Re: Burning up to many solenoids, PLEASE HELP
So.....it is a 5 solenoid cart? These are not good prospects for 48v. Seems the solenoids only last 6mos to a year....It is a good candidate for a controller upgrade I think by the time you buy really good solenoids you could have bought a controller and potentiometer? Maybe some other members will weigh in on this one.....

Re: Burning up to many solenoids, PLEASE HELP
When you do change over you will only need one very good 48v one. Cheap ones have contacts made of lesser metals, unlike the silver contacts of the better types. Maybe that is why they are burning and sticking... Also I think if you use a diode and resistor on each one they may last longer...Someone else is gonna have to verify or nullify that statement....it was just a thought?
