Default Just got a club car!

New guy, just joined and got my first club car. Hello all.

I have a few questions, My serial number is A9934, it looks like that means 1999 for a year? It has 6-8v batteries.

I also noticed after its on the charger for a little while it sounded like some of the batteries where boiling, guessing that is not suppose to happen.

Thanks

Welcome! Yes it's a 1999. Batteries sound like that when charging. That is normal. Make sure to maintain proper water levels in them. Look through the stickies at the top of the Electric Club Car section. There is a lot of valuable info there.

Welcome. They batteries will make that noise even after the charger cuts off. Well at least mine do. Like BigBlock said, check water levels. I have to add distilled water every month depending on use.

Well it looks like I might be in for some new batteries before long.

Every battery was just about bone dry except 2 cells. It took almost 2 gallons to fill them all up. They seem to hold a better charge, but still not up to specs.

How bad are the Duracell batteries at sams club?

batteries are the heart of your cart go with the best you can afford
Duracell batteries are inline with other brands of cart batteries

9934 means it was made the 34th week of production year 99 which started in August of 98

I'm about to purchase a 96 DS for the mom in law. Seller tells me it will need batteries. I was eyeing up the same sams club duracells to keep from over spending on a "gift" so to speak. I would considering trying to save the batteries but they don't seem to have open able cells.

That cart actually has the Duracell batteries in it now which are dead. From what I can tell they are completely sealed with no way of trying to maintain them (throwaways) There weren't any holes to open to refill water etc...

Then you don't have the right batteries.

yep get the right batteries in your cart
the reason is deep cell batteries bubble and gas off some water when you charge them
thats why you never smoke or have open flame around batteries (makes explosive gas)
you need to replace the lost water , use only distilled water
