Battery Charger Gets Hot
Is the battery charger supposed to get hot? I was unplugging the cord from the cart and noticed it was rather warm, then when I picked up the charger it self it was "hot". Not to hot to pick up by the handle, but hot none the less. Is this normal? I had been out in the cart earlier in the day and had plugged in the cart when I came back to the shop. I was going out in the cart again when I noticed it was hot.
Thanks in advance for your replies!! |

Re: Battery Charger Gets Hot
Since you commented that your charger to cart cord was warm to the touch I'd have to suspect that you need to give the plug & recept on the cart some attention as it sounds to me as though you could have a loose sloppy fit and with all that amperage passing through a loose connection it will generate extra heat... Some times even spraying the recept/plug with a little WD40 will improve the connection. As to the charger yes it will get warm and some are known to get almost too hot to handle and a loose connection at the cart will make worse.
Also be a good time to give your batteries a good inspection to make sure that all connections there are clean and tight as well as checking your water levels etc.... |

Re: Battery Charger Gets Hot
What charger do you have? The PowerDrive3 charger is supposed to get extremely hot while charging. It's normal.

Re: Battery Charger Gets Hot
Mine gets warm, I always put a small fan blowing on it when it is charging. Don't know if it helps but it made me feel better . This is my first cart

Re: Battery Charger Gets Hot
I deal mainly with Club Car carts, and all the Powerdrive chargers get "hot" to the touch when in use. It does garner a lot of questions from owners, but it is normal.
