It depends on your configuration, what you want to hook the positive to is a wire that reads 12v when brake is pressed. Ground can go to any of the accessory grounds. You'll just have to do some testing with your DVM. Also, post a pic of this thing, it sounds cool.

Make it a high mount brake light. Always remember, NEG. to battery neg source not frame ground.

The light wiring in each cart could be different depending if a commercial kit was used or if it was a DIY.

If You have a 48 to 12v DC converter, than likely all negatives are the same (unless you have a high end isolated type converter which is not common).

If You are tapping individual batteries for the low voltage lights (bad idea anyway), You need to make sure you are using the pack negative battery and not a middle battery.

If You don't have a turn signal switch, then You can just tap directly at the tail light.

Black is negative.
Red and White are positives.

They show both positives connected together on the Madjax basic wiring kit (Red and White).

The Ultimate light kit since it controls the turn signals individually, the White and Brown wires are the Turn signal/Brake light bulb.

In that case You would be better off connecting the positive wire to the brake Pedal switch.
