No you shouldn't have damaged the solenoid, but it's gonna keep killing microswitches until you reverse it. Is there a part number or anything on it?

OK. I finally got the part and the time to install it. I haven't completed the circuit, because I wanted you all to take a gander before I hooked up the juice. The solenoid is a 48v - it is stamped right on the bottom. I switched that diode so the red end is hooked to the same post as the red/white wire. I have the jumper from small yellow post to B- on the controller. Take a look at the pics and see if everything is oke doke.
Thanks in advance!

Hard to tell from the pics. All the connections look correct, but I can't see the diode well enough to see which way it's oriented. If the red side has been swapped since the last picture then all is well.

Yes, I made sure it was swapped. Does the resistor have polarity? I put the side with the red line on the large red terminal.

Resister does not have polarity.
