Default 03 DS IQ OBC bypass for DPI charger

My 03 DS IQ will not charge It will still drive fine.

I had another thread about charger not working

http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...ot-charge.html

Ordered a DPI charger from Scotty B
Now I need to disable the OBC
ScottyB sent me a diagram with directions that confused me

Crash Test Dummy posted a slightly different diagram about how to deal with the black wire from charging port.

Before I do something stupid I need to be clear on how to deal with the black wire goes from the charge plug to the OBC

First pic is from Scotty B Second is from Crash Test Dummy

At the top of ScottyBs pic it says
“Cut the black wire from the charge receptacle and connect it to the main battery(-) terminal shown
Cut the black wire from the charge receptacle at x and connect to main battery(-) at Z”

Is the second direction to cut giving more detail about the first line?

My cart has 6 batteries like in second pic

Seems they both say to move black wire that goes from charge plug to the OBC. Cut it as close to OBC as you can, then put an eyelet on it and hook to pack neg post.

Also the blue wire at the solenoid needs a NEG connection from the battery as well.

On my 2003 IQ there is a NEG connector block near the solenoid under the access cover. That is where I would make these connections. Away from the acid of the batteries.

There are a few different OBC by-pass procedures depending on the cart You have.

The charging current by-pass is always the same:

The black wire from the charger receptacle needs to go directly to pack negative. You can cut it as close to the OBC as possible and re-route it to pack negative, or disconnect it and run a new 10ga cable, whichever works best for You.

The cart lockout by-pass is specific to each drive system.

For the IQ carts, disconnect the 6-pin OBC connector and jump the Red and the Blue wires together on the harness side.

Do Not, do anything to the solenoid, that comment on the picture only applies to a Series cart.

Scary to trust people you have no prior knowledge of isn't it. This is one of the better forums I do admit, but....

Yes, I am a French model.

Thanks Sergio
After I jump the Red and the Blue wires together on the harness side do I leave the harness disconnected but covered from elements?

Since Your OBC is bad, You can also just cut the wires on the OBC side of the connector and twist the Red and the Blue wires together.

Just tape everything so it does not short against anything.

The OBC can be removed from the cart later if You want.

re WTF
If Frenchie sees something posted that is incorrect he should say so so we can all learn from his experience.
Otherwise he needs to understand people who post here are trying to help other cart owners and the quality of advice can vary as widely as the origins or in this case the year of the cart.
