Default Best place to buy new 12V batteries

I am needing to replace the batteries in my 2006 Club Car DS and was hoping to get some advice on where to purchase them. I called my local US Battery and Interstate dealers and I about fell out of my chair when they told me the price. US battery wants $255.62 per battery while Interstate wants $375! I knew these batteries were not cheap, but that is a lot more than what I was expecting. Where have most of you gone to get replacement batteries. Also, does anyone recommend a brand that might be more affordable that will still perform decent? I do not plan on using this cart but a couple days a week for a few hours at a time, not much use at all. The precious owner had installed 4 12V car batteries, now I know why! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I bought trojan 8 volt batteries at batteries plus for around $100.00 apiece.

Is your 2006 Club Car DS actually set up for 12v batteries? Most DS's used 6 x 8v batteries. They have been around longer and typically cost a bit less - while having the added benefit of lasting a few more years in typical golf cart use. Even if your DS was using 12v batteries originally, the DS has a frame/rail system which is pretty easy to convert back to using 8v batts. Car or Marine batteries is simply a bad idea on many levels (as I'm sure you know). Many people speak well of the US Batteries they've used in their golf carts (but I have Trojans).

Someone on here told me that they thought Club Car never came with a 4, 12v setup, but as far as I can tell, it hasn't been converted. Everything under the batteries looks factory and unmolested. I want to stick to this configuration as I am not too concerned about run time and I think it would be slightly more cost effective.

It's normal for an 06 DS to be equipped with 12 Volts. They did it until around 09 or so I think. Not sure of the year they quit doing it as DS cars got fewer and far between as the Precedent market grew.

That would have been me and it's been bugging me that I couldn't figure out who it was I told that to. I thought it was from ebay, but apparently it was here. And I later that day looked further into it and found that there were a few out there like that, but it seems that many were swapped over to the 6x8 by their respective owners. In my time, I've not seen one show up with the 4x12 setup and I've seen more carts than I ever care to remember. But at least now I know who it was I was talking with.

And the person or company quoting you on the 12V batteries is trying to retire off each customer he sells to obviously. As a US Battery dealer, I can tell you that I would sell a set of 4 12's installed with pickup and delivery at $925. If you wanted to straight up buy and have cores, you'd be looking at about $800. Perhaps that dealer didn't quote you turning in your cores? Those are like $32 each in 12V.

A golf course I visit from time to time has a fleet of about 60 carts I think they are 07 year DS. They are 4/12 volt set up.
