Default 2009 Precedent tie rod thoughts

Have any of you guys replaced you tie rod ends with heim joints? Mine need to be changed, and was thinking of trying to go to heim joints, that way i don't have to worry about them anymore. I just have to figure out the thread pitch on the rods themselves first

I have seen this done on jeeps.

Check out earlycj5.com and do a search. You should get some ideas.

Old thread but I just came across it so…
Yes, I replaced my precedent ball joints with HD heim joints (both the inner ball joint at the rack and outer joint at the steering knuckle) about 7 years ago. I also added high articulation spacers to get a little more angle out of them. To do the conversion I had to fabricate my own steering arms with left and right threads as well as the bracket that the heim saddles into. It was a lot of work, money (quality heim’s aren’t cheap) and many hours and in the end I don’t feel it was worth it.

But right now I’m in the process of switching everything back to the OEM ball joints. The Heim worked fine but as they wear you begin to feel the slop in the steering. I like my steering tight with no play in the wheel which is why I’m going back to the stock ball joints. They lasted about the same before noticeable wearing and it’s nice to be able to just buy replacement club car parts anywhere, know they will fit and know the quality your getting.
