Default Club Car Ds Electrical issue

I have a 1997 Club Car DS 48v. When I lifted the cart the 2 of the wires going to the motor were too short. The other day I decided to lengthen one of them. My first mistake was to rush the job and not disconnect the batteries. Second mistake was letting my 8 yo remove the wire from the controller. He let the socket hit the middle and bottom terminals on the right side. There were very small sparks and we moved on and finished the job, all proud and happy until we went to move the cart and only got a click from the solenoid. We then started checking for power. We have 48v on both sides of both solenoids at all times, key on or off. We have 48v on o e terminal on top of the motor and one terminal on the side of the motor at all times. One of these wire goes to the motor from the second solenoid with the big coil of wire and the other goes to the motor from the controller, bottom right terminal. This is as far as my electrical knowledge goes. I would have thought you would only have 48v one one side of the solenoid and nothing at the motor unless the pedal was pushed. Only found one small fuse near the black wedge shaped throttle box, it was good. I would have thought there would be a big fuse somewhere in the system. Everything I have read says we fried the controller, hope not cause I have priced them and they ain't cheap. Hoping someone else has a better idea. Thanks for any help.

make sure you jack up cart and put it on jack stands before you try this
i will also say do this at your own risk ,, not for kids

Weak batteries. Check voltage while going up hill. It will be low.
