CC Charging issues
Hi Guys
Need some advice please, my 2007 CC has not been used for a while and lost its charge. I have been trying to charge the battery's individually and I have been able to charge three battery's but the forth one won't take a charge. They are all US 12v XS battery's about three years old. So thinking I have enough juice for the CC charger to take over I wired all the battery's back together again and when I plug in the CC charger I get a loud buzz and it pops the switch on the strip power lead its plugged into. I thought maybe the battery was shorting inside but then spoke with my local dealer and they said there could be a rectifier problem on the charger. They said they don't sell the US battery's but sell crown 12v battery's for 150$ Any ideas, not too sure where to go from here. Thank you Stu |

Re: CC Charging issues
If you can't get the battery to take a charge individually, it is toast. The charger will see it as a short. You probably need a new set of batteries if you let them discharge all the way. That does serious permanent damage to them.

Re: CC Charging issues
chargers are best plugged into the wall socket or if need a extension then a 12 ga cord is needed. if your using a strip plug most likely its not heavy enough for the charger .

Re: CC Charging issues
Thanks for the reply guys, I will definitely be more careful from now on so not to ruin the battery's especially if I have to replace them.
Going back to the charger, I pulled it directly into the wall this time, got a buzz from the charger as I waited for it to kick in and now its popping the fuse on the front of the unit. Any ideas what could be wrong with the charger? Or where to start? Thank you Stu |

Re: CC Charging issues
You need to address the fact that your unable to get the 4th battery to accept a 12 volt charge BEFORE you go any further.....
Being you have 12 volt batteries they are easy to simply charge one by one on a 12 volt automotive charger..... If you have 3 that have taken a charge and 4th that will not then that is where you need to start..... Depending on age and prior abuse you might well want to consider ALL new batteries.... |

Re: CC Charging issues
Thanks again, its a Powerdrive 2. I think I might have got 12v back into the last battery so it may not be dead after all...time will tell. The battery charger is one of these auto shut off ones, I guess it didn't like the last battery, I used another 12v battery and put it in serial with the one that didn't work and charged it and the charger stayed on and the battery is upto 12v again, not saying its going to hold it for more than ten mins but we will see how it goes.
I ordered a repair kit for my charger and that's going to be with me mid week if all goes to play so lets hope that fixes it. |
