CC lift installation
i am installing a lift kit on my 03 CC series cart. I can't remember the manf. of kit but on the rear lift the springs get moved to the top of the axle and new axle seats and U-bolts are installed. I did all that and test drove cart and the rear axle is trying to "roll over" when forward braking. I have the U-bolts as tight as they will go and the axle seats are set into the springs studs correctly. The old axle seats are welded to the axle. My instructions say nothing about welding. Am I completely missing some other axle connection?
Help..... Thx, Mike |

Re: CC lift installation
I had to lay under there and retighten mine down with an impact wrench. i thought i would have to weld those spring perches on but i finally got it tight enough to stop the roll.

Re: CC lift installation
Well. I'll try tightening again. I have no impact wrench, have depend on regular body power, and maybe a long handle on the rachet. Thanks.

Re: CC lift installation
i took cart for a couple of test drives and was able to tighten up U-bolts a little after each drive until the last one. When I was tightening u-bolt it broke. I almost hit myself in the face with the wrench. I'll go to the john Deere store tomorrow and get some u-bolts with better metal.

Re: CC lift installation
Sounds like you are on the right track... If you know some one with a welder maybe they can glue it on for you? Or is there somewhere you can take it for a little welding after the kit is installed?

Re: CC lift installation
I know several farmers around here. So I think I can find one with some spare time to weld a little for me. My lift kit must have been one of those Chinese specials. When U-bolt broke I was only using a standard 1/2 drive rachet with no pull bar or extentions. If the rain will hold off I'll get the front lift installed tomorrow. Working on carts at deer camp makes you work with the weather. Today was 73 degrees with scattered light rain. Tomorrow is about the same. Bad weather for deer hunting.

Re: CC lift installation
You keep saying that !!!!
I keep checking my mailbox ??? I flipped the axle on one of my 89 CC DS ... I simply cut the mounts off of the bottom with a grinder and cutting wheel and re- welded them on the top. I got about 3 1/2 inches of lift this way and then bought the Jake 3' spindles for the front. |

Re: CC lift installation
Mines doing the same thing, the bolts are tight, but the springs are flexing. I presently have the back cover off and can see it happen when I brake even at slow speeds 2-3 mph. I guess it needs heavy duty springs to stop it. But they'll do for now.
