ok ... that should make solenoid click
you need to test solenoid
and yes it could be bad out of the box

solenoid test

Quote:
Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery. remove all wires, restorer , and diode from solenoid
test 1
Connect an volt meter, set on continuity, place on the two large terminal studs. The meter should indicate no continuity, Replace the solenoid if continuity is present.
test 2
Using jumper wires attach from main positive and main negative of battery pack to the two small solenoid studs, polarity is not important. You should hear a click as the solenoid engages, and the meter should indicate continuity on the two large terminals. Replace the solenoid if continuity is not present.
if solenoid clicks rapidly solenoid is bad

Well it beeps. I will check again in the morning because I have to remove two batteries and the wires from the solenoid and the lighting in my garage is not that great. Say I replace the solenoid AGAIN, what do I check after that?? Come to think of it the last time it ran was a couple days before I changed to solenoid. The cart was not staying charged and the post was broke so I figured...After I put in the new solenoid is when it would not move so I checked double checked to make sure I had the solenoid hooked up right.

one thing you can do
jack up cart with wheels off ground put on jack stands
use a jumper cable and connect the 2 large studs on solenoid
with key on , in forward press go pedal , if wheels turn stop

change solenoid and go from there

if not we will go to other things
