1990 Club Car 36V V-Glide Getting HOT
I am totally out of options as to why my 1990 Club Car 36v resistor golf cart is melting the V-Glide. I have the complete wire diagram, 6 brand new batteries, new F&N switch, cleaned all the wire connections, oh med everything and it works. Goes forward and reverse, but after a short ride on flat paved road the top contact on the v-glide is getting hot. The bottom contact bolt is also getting hot. My golf cart has no modifications and have completely gone through everything from the motor contacts and through. The V-Glide the top contact wire is black and comes from the passenger side of the resistor and the white wire connecting to the bolt on the v-glide is coming from the white wire attached to the driver side on the resistor. When you drive the cart in half pedal the resistors all get hot, but the V-glide on the middle contacts are not getting hot. It's just the top and bottom. I have the original diagram and everything is connected properly.
1990 Club Car 36V New batteries, V-glide, F&R Cleaned all the wires... No modifications to the cart Flat Florida paved road Thanks, Chris |

Re: 1990 Club Car 36V V-Glide Getting HOT
Welcome to the Forum.
If everything is clean tight and right as you say then I think the trouble is this system is designed for golf. which means drive 300 yds and let it cool, hit the ball and repeat. Are you sure when the gas is 100% the wiper contact is on the last lug ONLY? |

Re: 1990 Club Car 36V V-Glide Getting HOT
I have validated it's defintly on the last contact when the pedal is all the way down. From the diagram it shows the right and wrong. For some reason I cannot get mine to lay flat. There is an adjustment screw on the arm, but cannot get the swing arm contact to lay flat. Would this cause a melting issue?

Re: 1990 Club Car 36V V-Glide Getting HOT
I adjusted the contact on the arm more toward the contact on the glide. I also raised the cart and tested it at full pedal and the contact never got hot because of no resistance. The brakes are defintly not dragging. Here are the adjustment photos.
