Default Installation of new Batteries.

Hello,

I've attempted to wire in my new batteries, I did'nt go well. I connected the last wire and the cart took off backwards and smashed off my outside tap showering the drive way, crashing into my tesla and bending both driver and rear passenger doors back off there hinges (the doors were open so I could hear the radio whilst I fixed the golf cart) and finally came to halt against our yard gate, wheels spinning and with one of the batteries melting.

Not good.

I have tried again and am experiencing the same results (without as much damage), If I wire the black wire from the controller box onto the + on the first battery then wire the others in line ending with the red cable that goes to the solenoid, the cart fires up in reverse. If I wire it the other way, Red on + ending with black on - I don,t get any thing at all, well maybe a little noise from the reversing alarm and the battery light on the dash comes on a little.

So what am I doing wrong?

advice welcome.

sounds like it would have been a lot cheaper if you had a shop do it. May not have been as much fun, but......

Do you happen to have all that on video

To start with the battery cable that comes from the controller to the batteries goes to number 6 battery neg. post. It comes through the OBC.

The red cable from the solenoid goes to the number 1 battery pos. post. all others are in series.

That is such a bummer. I'm glad nobody was hurt.
When I was swapping batteries in a lot of different carts. I would use a clean sheet of paper and draw a quick sketch of the batteries with + and - posts then put lines connecting where battery to battery cables went and additionally, a note for main + and main - and also a note of any additional wires next to whatever post they went to.
I never had any trouble if I followed this routine. Sometimes it felt like a silly waste of time but once in awhile it saved my but.

Crash, that is a very good idea, so, guess what ?

I'll be doing that today and I will take a pic of the batteries and print it and put the pic in a zip loc bag and staple the pic under the seat also, so, that will never happen to me
