charging batteries

I am using interstate batteries u2200 in a 1998 Club car at 6v 20a and charger is 30a. batts were overfilled but brand new. lowered level but still wary about difference in amperage.According to the new voltage meter installed, the batts are being overcharged. Any suggestions?

What are the pack readings before charging, during charging, and 30 minutes after the charger has shut off? Distilled water level should just cover the lead plates by 1/4 inch. Too much will delute the action....

if you're referring to the voltage? before 25,during 31+/- after 37/38. the gauge i bought to show the charge on the batts is peaking in the red on the left side of the charge area,don;t know wether to trust the gauge or trust the charger. the batt are putting out a hell of a smell,nitric acid smell?

just to change the subject,what is better; a spindle lift or an arm lift?

If by A arm you mean long travel you are trying to compare apples and oranges....The price shows that too. Depends on what you want the cart to do? Most people get along withy a spindle lift just fine. It is superior to some others like a Z lift or Block type lifts. At least a spindle lift actually lifts your axle.....Just to get back on track, 25 is damagingly low....36v is flat empty. full is closer to 39 and 41 0r 42 under full charge would not be too much juice for a limited amount of time....but you may have some other problems. How is the distilled water level? How old are the batteries and how often do you take them down to 25 volts?

Batteries are brand new. System is 36V.

I understand but 36 volts is empty. A 6 volt battery will hold additional voltage when fully charged.....it is empty at 6v and should never be drawn down below 6v. Most agree that drawing the pack voltage down below say 37 volts is detrimental to the longevity of the group... What about your water levels?

I filled them up after the first day of use.

Honestly sweade, You are abusing your batteries. They will not give you years of service they are capable of if treated this way.
