Default Lift kit and bigger tires

Hello -

Newbie here. I have an 06 48V Precedent. Pretty much all stock except for the high speed code and a 2nd row seat with enhance rear springs.

I am looking into adding a 6" lift kit and larger tires. Without changing the speed controller or motor will I see a decrease in speed? I am introducing the opportunity for problems with only doing this upgrade?

I apologize in advance if this topic has been started multiple times. I tired to search but didn't find what I was looking for.

Thanks!

The increased tire size adds weight and changes the overall drive ratio of the vehicle due to the increased diameter of the sidewall. The vehicle is factory pre-set to speed setting 3 more than likely and will limit your top speed to a maximum RPM that translates to 14.8MPH ground speed. With larger tires, that same RPM will produce more speed because the larger tires are able to travel further with each revolution than the original tire size. You can potentially gain top end speed from adding larger tires, but the cart has to be in good shape with good battery health to do so. You're going to lose torque by changing to a taller tire. The amount of torque you lose all depends on how tall of a tire you want to use. There are motor and controller packages available to get your torque back.

wow thanks for the fast response. I forgot to mention it has a club car private speed mode kit also on it. I think all that is is a higher speed code but I could be wrong. Currently it has great torque but I understand I could lose some.

No problem. Let me know if you ever need anything else. I wouldn't expect to see much more speed than the 19.6MPH you're currently getting.
