Help with clearance
Hey guys, first off, I've got a 2000 DS that I just purchased a set of 12" wheels with low profile tires for. I just put them next to the stock cart and I'm pretty sure I'm gonna be bottoming out pretty bad, at least on the rear. When I stand on the rear seat foot rest, it drops really low.
Any recommendations for stiffening the rear end so it will hold up to the rear seat, passengers, and 12" wheels? Will a pair of HD leaf springs be enough? I don't want it lifted...at least not at this time. Thanks for any help. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G925A using Tapatalk |

Re: Help with clearance
Hd leafs are very stiff. I think you would be fine but i dont know what size tires you are using.
i have a 6" lift and 25" tires and still have clearance with a backseat. Very little movement in the rear. |

Help with clearance
Here's my build with 12" wheels and non-low profile tires. Having the right offset wheels makes a big difference. I didn't want a lift and this turned out perfect and rides like stock....

Re: Help with clearance
Thats a standard height tire. Maybe your shocks are shot? They should work.

Would you recommend sticking with the stock leaf springs and just replacing the shocks?
I was leaning towards the longer shackles and front aluminum block that Southco used, but I just want to know that's the correct decision. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G925A using Tapatalk |

Shocks won't give you anymore clearance. The tire size you listed should work on a stock height cart unless the stock springs are worn, or the wheel offset is much different than stock, and/or you have a lot of weight on the rear... |

Re: Help with clearance
I went with longer shackles to lift the rear end about 1-1/4" and that solved rubbing issues for me.

Re: Help with clearance
you could just move the leaf spring from under the axle to on top of the axle and gain the little extra you need .
