1999 CC slower after new batterues

I have a 1999 CC 48 volt series (F-N-R) lever, when I bought it the previous owner had it running on four 12 volt marine batteries.

I put an All Sports lift kit, 22 in tires, repacked the bearing, changed the rear end oil, new factory cables, and 6 new 8 volt US batteries.

Now the cart is slower that than before, seems to run fine just slower, Oh and I ran it with the old batteries after I had put the lift kit on it.

Any idea why it is slower? Before it ran around 13-14 mph, now it is around 9-10 mph. and it lost some of its torque going uphill.

What can I check? or do I need a need motor? (ouch) don't really want to spend too much, its just a hunting buggy.

48v is 48v. the motor should spin the same rpm regardless of the pack configuration. I suspect the batteries are improperly connected = not 48v to the motor or the batteries are bad.

I hope the batteries are not bad, I just bought them!

I am not very good with electrical problem, how do I test the batteries to ascertain if they are working properly?

I did not know the cart would run if the batteries were not hooked up correctly, I followed the battery diagram from the information post here.

Here's SOMETHING ELSE to check for, too. It's a common wear area on DS models which slowly degrades your speed. It's the cheapest speed-up you'll ever get if that is the cause.

Also thinking I might upgrade the motor to a Bandit, because you don't need to change anything else, but I also read somewhere that you can put a stock 36 volt motor on a 48 volt cart and will increase steep & torque, anyone have any experience with this swap?

You said you put new factory cables on it. They would be 6 ga. The cart may have had 2 ga or 4 ga cables that would allow more electric fuel to flow to the motor.

Take a voltage reading across the entire pack as well as voltage reading from each single battery...

my digital volt meter said the pack is @51.0 volts I have not checked each battery by itself
