I told you to get the higher amp hour batteries so it looks like you chose smaller - I think you will be okay if you charge often and don't run the pack down below 50% capacity

Re: 150 amp vs 165 amp Crown batteries???
Not going to beat this horse....
The six 150's = 900 verse six 165's = 990 so your are loosing 90 amp capacity. Will it amount to a hill of beans? Sure it will, a 90 amp hill of beans. Considering that you were making do with was a 400 amp battery pack, so your hill of beans then was 500 to 600 beans tall then.... Yes you will be fine in that aspect just a little shorter range than the batteries we recommended. |

Re: 150 amp vs 165 amp Crown batteries???
That math only works if the batteries were connected in parallel.
You are really only loosing 15AH, 48v@150AH vs 48v@165AH. I would be more concerned that you got fresh batteries, just check the date codes and make sure they are all the same and within the last couple of months. Edit: I did not mean to imply the difference was small, but the amp hour rate (@20hours) published is not a good indicator of performance for a golf cart application. You would also have to assume that different batteries have the same Peukert coefficient, meaning they would behave at the same proportions under different load requirements in order to use that amp hour number to compare different batteries performance. If you look at the published run times @56amps (golf cart cruising on level road): CR-150 = 90 minutesIf you ran the cart until the batteries were dead, the CR-165 would give you 30% more run time. Re: 150 amp vs 165 amp Crown batteries???
I spoke with the battery shop; boss today, 165s would have cost $240.00 more. So not being a golfer, just a; mail getter, and a ride now and then for my dog she loves it. And new grandson..likes this cart. And i only lose 17 minutes of run time.well worth the risk, when i also had free batteries for over 2 years .This thread is done.....unless you have more
. Its all good ........on to bigger and better things My 55 chevy now gain thanks to all who attended this battery party. per say,Its truly been ride. thats for sure bob s |

Re: 150 amp vs 165 amp Crown batteries???
keep them checked,...
There are two conditions when watering can be harmful to your batteries. One is over-watering and the other is under watering. It seems like most everyone does one or the other. In our recent meeting with the Trojan battery gurus, they told us that over-watering is perhaps more harmful to the batteries than under watering, but they are both bad for the batteries. So we will discuss over-watering first. http://billydlewis.info/uploads/Wate...ur_Battery.pdf |

Re: 150 amp vs 165 amp Crown batteries???
If you have a 17amp charger you will be overcharging your batteries. You will need a 15 amp charger for 150ah batteries. Just saying.
Also if you have Crowns that look like the ones in this picture they are junk. Don't ask me how I know that. |
