Default Brake Cables Too Short ?

Hoping somebody has a logical answer for me concerning a ClubCar with newly installed 6" lift by Jakes. Putting on new rear brake cables and they fit from rear mount to new lowered front mount ok - but the cable itself now seems to be an inch short. The cross piece they attach to is adjusted all the way back on the J-bolt. What could be the issue? Have checked and confirmed cables are correct.
Anybody else have this issue before and what did you do to correct?
Thank you in advance for any advice you could offer.

If it was the All-sports lift, You could do this trick from RevolutionGolfcars:

For the Jakes the best option is to replace the driver's side brake cable with a longer passenger's side brake cable.

Cart is a DS not a Precedent if that makes a difference.
Yes it's a Jakes lift and has the new bracket at front to lower mounting point.

I flip the brakes on the DS cars too. It's not just a Precedent exclusive. Might be worth looking into.

This may be a silly question but... your not still using the the brake cable "hangers" are you?
