Rear Spring Question
I am in the process of installing new springs and bushings on my Precedent. The bushings are not the same size as the original. I checked the packaging and it states they are for a precedent. I have included a photo with the bolt in the original and one with the bolt in the new one. Do you think this presents a problem?

Re: Rear Spring Question
That's gonna make some noise.....I'd up-size the bolts.

Re: Rear Spring Question
Yea when I replaced mine it was like the original, snug! They sent you the wrong bushing, you have to use that bolt so they need to send you a replacement.

Re: Rear Spring Question
The new bushing looks right, the old bolt does not look original. I would get some new bolts in the right size.

Re: Rear Spring Question
That looks like the right size bolt but the bushing looks too big. My bolts look the same and the bushing's should be the same size both ends.

Re: Rear Spring Question
Bolts are the originals and look like the replacement bolts you find on most sites.
i can't get larger bolts unless I drill out the holes in the shackles and I would rather not do that. I called the company and they stated those are the bushings they always send out with them. I emailed these pics to them and am waiting on a response. |

Re: Rear Spring Question
DS cars had 3/8" bolts. Precedents had 8mm (5/16" equivalent). Period. I don't care what the company tells you. They're wrong. And just because they always send them out, doesn't make it correct. You've got DS bushings and you're trying to re-use your original Precedent bolts in them. They're gonna rattle. You'll either need to get the correct bushings or drill your holes out to 3/8" and go to the hardware store and get some bolts.

Re: Rear Spring Question
I think the easiest thing to do at this point is to order 4 bushing sleeves which are the correct size. The O.D. is the same on both the old and new bushing sleeve. The I.D. Is smaller on the old, as TahoeDawg pointed out.
