John-You are right about the adhesive being necessary!! Had the motor up in position but could not slid it onto the input shaft. Pulled everything back out and sure enough the guide ring had turned just enough to close the grooves. Now the adhesive with a 24 hr. wait. Most short cuts aren't. Dick

OK guys back to the drawing board!! Finally got the motor back in-dropping shock & shakle didn't work in order to solve motor lift problem so I designed a 5" X 10" inspection & access port through the bagwell (cut that hummer out with my jig saw). Reached in grabbed the @#$%^&**motor and shoved it onto the input shaft. A nice piece of metal covers the new port then covered by the bagwell cover. But danged clicking noise is still there!! Not as bad as prior to replacing spline bumper. I now think I might have a brake shoe/hub problem on one side as it shuts down by removing hub and wheel to run. So will look at it next. No place to go in the snow anyhow- Dick

I'm sorry that the bumper/spline ring wasn't the clicking...
(I know for sure, that's what's wrong with mine)

I feel bad that you had to go through all of that hassle, when it was my suggestion!
I am happy that you have it pretty close to being pin pointed though...

Keep us/me updated! (for future reference)

Don-Don't turn in your Clicking Sound Guru badge yet!! I took the left hub off and cleaned, etc. Still had a sound that wasn't exactly like the spline sound. Stumbled around and checked the right rear-what a dumb ***!! The lug bolts were loose, not even hand tight. I was running with tires on while on jack stands. Tightened lug bolts and wallahh no sound. Too much snow to road test but I THINK the spline bumper WAS the problem. Keep this screw up secret if you will!!. Dick

Enough snow melt for a short test in front of the house--No clicking noise!! So Spline bumper cured the clicking. By the way, I never thought of pulling the batteries for motor access. I now have an "access port" to the motor from the bagwell. Thanks to all for the help. I'll see you on the next problem. DC

For Lockman1 and CCJohn-My 96 CC rebuild is complete!! She is a low-slow old man's golfing jewel. I have her for sale so I can do another one. Great winter project and mostly keeps me out of the bars. My thanks to you two for your help and boosting- You both have a friend in Spokane Valley, Washington. Picture attached taken prior to all the motor work. Now to clean grease, blood, sweat & tears from garage floor. Dick

That's a great looking cart!
You shouldn't have a problem selling it!

Don't go and clean up the floor yet...
I'd suggest a gasser with a V-twin for your next project!
