Another thing to look at is the axle spline hub in the brake drum. This is a know weak spot in the Ezgo drive system. You may have a loose axle nut or you worn some slop in the hub.

The CCs have a one piece axle and hub combo

A few years back my DS was creaking when I stopped - I did my best to ignore it during golf season. In fall when I took off the hub, the back brake shoe on the driver side was worn totally thin, and the front shoe looked almost new. Seems the "slider" at the bottom of the brake assembly was stuck - so only the rear shoe was being applied on that side, which resulted in a consistent creaking sound on brake application (I guess that was the sound of the shoe being "torqued"). In any case - new shoes and freeing up & lubricating the (very important) slide mechanism / brake adjustment assembly fixed the issue.
