Default Will an upgraded motor solve my problem?

Any education or advice for my situation below is appreciated.

I recently presented a problem on this forum about my electric motor overheating (260 degrees) on my newly purchased 2002 Club Car DS IQ Regen. It gets hot after about 30 minutes of steady riding slow, or even sooner if carrying 4 riders. As mentioned before, my cart is lifted, has a stock motor (3.75 hp according to seller) and solenoid, newly installed 400a controller, 12" tires, and 2 gauge battery cables.

The label on the controller says: Controller Test Services, LLC
Model: 1510-5201 400 amp. I think it was re-manufactured.

The advice before was to first upgrade my 6 gauge battery cables which I have done (now have 2 ga.) Being that it is still getting hot, I'm now thinking about upgrading to a new torque motor ( I was told by some stores that an admiral MOT-A4 would be a good motor for me). I mostly use my cart for hunting and driving slow. My questions are:

1. If I upgrade my motor, do I also need to upgrade my controller or will this controller work (obviously I would prefer not to spend another $500 if it is not necessary)

2. Will an upgraded torque motor allow me to drive slow without the motor overheating?

Thanks again for any help.

No personal experience on this, but I would think that would be the way to go with the way you are using your cart. 400 amps should do pretty good also.

When the controller & cables were upgraded was the solenoid also upgraded? When you say battery cables, did you upgrade the cables to the controller also? These systems need to be fully upgraded to have any real impact. Your motor may be in need to re-build or replaced, also you are using the cart in a way it was never designed to be used, so the requirements can take a toll on an older motor. I would contact one of the sponsors here on this forum, there are plenty of options to help resolve your issue.

Yes, all cables were upgraded to 2 gauge. As stated, it still has the original solenoid. And yes, I am hoping for a response from a knowledgeable person on this issue.

A torque motor will allow you to cruise at slow speed without the heat issues associated with the stock motor. I'd suggest that you call D&D and give them the specs from your cart and your intended use of it and they will recommend the correct motor. I've found their motors and advice to be bullet proof. If the controller is already 400 amps you should be fine. You might want to think about a HD solenoid.
