DCX Install trouble - please help!
Well I sent in the cart to our dealer to have a used Alltrax DCX 400R19 controller put in to my 2008 club car precedent and when it was returned I found the ride to be extremely jerky. Top end speed was at best the same as stock, no more pull up hills. Upon further inspection it looks like they ran the ground wire from battery bank to bypass the OBC instead of passing through the hole in the panel- how concerned should I be about them bypassing the OBC? They also only replaced a portion of the power wires with 4 gauge and left a portion stock, and my in-dash battery gauges are non-responsive. what should I start to troubleshoot given the jerky response of the throttle and sluggishness of throttle at WOT, and should I be concerned about the OBC bypass? (Note I am using a stock charger)
Thank you for any help you can provide! |

Can you post the ser# of the cart, and then we can tell what drive system/cart you have. And i'm not sure why they didn't run the ground through the OBC. It need to go through the hole in the OBC

By-passing the OBC is a clear indication that dealer does not know anything about Club Cars.
It is critical that cable goes through the OBC and that it is the only cable (or wire) connected to the pack negative battery post. The gauges not working and the throttle response could be the result of an Excel system or 'PH' serial number cart compatibility issue caused by improper installation. |

Re: DCX Install trouble - please help!
The DCX and CC IQ are a crude match.
The DCX control does not have a throttle map that matches the CC input signal well. It will not be smooth or 100% because the CC signal is actually closer to 6500 - 1000 than 5000-0. There is a signal adapter you can make up. Sergio posted a diagram and I tested it on my R&D cart. It worked very well. This would be one solution. Last summer Alltrax came out with a new control (the XCT) which has throttle signal auto-ranging and a bunch of other nice features. Personally, I would take the cart back to the dealer and ask they remove the control and refund the $. Then get the new XCT control. Re: DCX Install trouble - please help!
Crap. I was afraid of that. Here are some pics so I can be absolutely sure I am looking at this right. One is dcx controller, one is my serial number, one is pic of obc with no ground wire running through. Any differing thoughts from you guys with this information?
Thank you guys for your help- I would be in even more trouble without it. |

Re: DCX Install trouble - please help!
like I said the DCX and IQ is not a good match up UNLESS you build a throttle signal reducer, See above. Don't expect your dealer to acknowledge a throttle signal reducer.... you won't see that anyplace but here. Personally I would rather see you get into a new XCT400IQ than that 2 yr old control with no warranty.

Re: DCX Install trouble - please help!
I've got a question for you. What is a DCX 400R19? A search of the internet only returns this page and a search of Alltrax shows up nothing.
