2005 Precedent Villager sometimes goes, sometimes not

Hello, I am a newbie, so please forgive my ineptitude...

My husband and I bought an '05 Precedent Villager in August for $2500 and promptly had to replace the batteries as they would only go for a couple miles before being completely discharged. That in itself was a process and we ended up buying deep cycle batteries from the only place here that carried them. We went to several places before ending up at the Toyota dealership and they had some that would work for our requirements. For some reason, asking for 4 12v deep cycle batteries was received with looks like we were crazy and every place we went either didn't have deep cycle batteries or they tried selling us 6v golf cart batteries.

I don't know if our issue has to do with something that may have happened during the process of changing the batteries or not, but now it intermittently will not go.

I have to be honest, I know next to nothing about the mechanics of electric golf carts. My husband is deployed so no help there. It sometimes makes a clicking sound and sometimes no sound when it won't go. If I keep trying the pedal, it will eventually go and practically give my daughter and I whiplash. We live on an island and there are no places to take our cart to for diagnostic and repair, as every single golf course here uses gas carts and the maintenance people we have talked to are unwilling to help.

I am guessing there's a solenoid that may be a problem? Is there more than one? I am pretty handy and can perform most mechanical repairs myself, but this is WAY different than replacing parts on my classic car. I am lost. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what may be the problem and also where to find it on the cart? I don't want to start dissembling things that I don't need to.

Also, is there a parts list somewhere that is specific to a stock '05 Precedent Villager? I want to make sure I am ordering the right parts.

Try pressing the GO pedal about 25-50 times with the key OFF. Then see if that helps. You may have film build up on the inside of the MCOR. that is the throttle part that controls movement.

Also anytime you are not using cart it needs to be hooked to charger, otherwise the batteries will go bad real quick.

My first question would be. What kind of batteries did you finally install. Give us all the information off the battery that you can find.

Hi JJ, we have AC Delco batteries. ACDM27DC

Unfortunately those are group 27 marine deep cycle batteries. They will work but will not have the lifespan of a golf cart battery. I assume 4 12 volt ? The correct ones are listed as GC12. Not sure where you are but most places can order them. As for the no go, I agree of it being bad mcor switch. Shoot David an email and he will help you out.

We know that they're deep cycle marine batteries, unfortunately its the best we could do in our location. We live on Guam and to get the proper batteries sent to us it would have cost 3x the price of the batteries alone just to ship fright. So, we were OK with buying deep cycle to get us through the rest of out time on Guam. I did do four 12 volt for the set up. It doesn't hold the charge like the Trojans do, but it works for what we use it for on the island. (Putting around the neighborhood, riding to work, and heading to the beach.)

I will be heading back from deployment here in a month or two, and I plan on fixing the micro switch or servo, whichever it ends up being. I may do both though, probably wouldn't hurt with it being over 10 years old. Do you guys think its one or the other with this type of problem? Would it be worth replacing both with the carts age?
