Default resistor cart burning solinoid!?

Any ideas on why my solinoid(for key switch, f/r in neutral and foot not on the accelerator petal) keeps burning up. First time it did I replaced it and f/r switch, two days later it burnt again. I replaced all cables on cart, cleaned vglide and made sure it's making good contact(I even checked with meter across vglide to resistors) no high resistance. Put new solinoid on again and rode cart a short distance and checked solinoid and side going to vglide was really hot nothing else seemed to be expected resistors witch is normal.
Any Ideas? Greatly appreciate any info

Welcome to BGW. Just a few questions:
Does the cart have big tires?
Are you certain the new solenoid is continuous duty rated for a golf cart?
How many people ride on it when the solenoid is getting hot?
What is the terrain like?
Any slow driving?

You may want to read the thread below and make sure the vglide is adjusted properly.

If you don't do a lot of low speed driving, a high speed by-pass will be a good solution for you, the circuit is posted later on that thread.

So after replacing all components except the resistor coils and motor I am sure there is a problem with the motor. I am looking at motors but also want to convert to a controller cart later(don't have $2,000 to drop on it righ now). Any advice on a good motor to go with? And that can also be used with a controller? Any advice would help! Thanks

The motor requirements for a resistor coil cart and a controller cart can vary greatly. It's going to be real hard to find a motor that will fit the bill. I'd just look for a used stock motor and do the solid state conversion asap

HELP! I am getting ready to do a solid state conversion from old resistor crap. The problem cart was burning solenoid(I have replaced everything on the cart, f/r switch, cables, v-glide, motor!) put a high amp solenoid and the v-glide wiper melted! Any ideas why solenoid or v-glide would get so hot? I don't want to melt anymore money especially something on the conversion!
