It will no longer work once the OBC is bypassed.

The DPI charger has 2 DC cords for the Club Car 3-pin round connector, one with 12/2 cable and one with a 12/3 cable.

Most likely they ship the 12/2 cord with the smart charger designed to work without the OBC.

In this case You would need to add a wire between the "Sense" pin (green wire on the picture below) and the "Negative" pin (black wire on the picture below).

You can then use either one of these procedures:
On board charger mounting experiment...
On board charger mounting experiment...
If You have the 12/3 cord, just connect the Green wire with the Negative wire inside the DPI charger.

Either way the Gray sense wire from the back of the charger receptacle connects the same spot as the "Lester Interlock" on the diagrams posted.

Just as an FYI, I upgraded a 16 club car precedent iq (white controller & Eric smart charger) to an Alltrax 500 and HD solenoid and I DID NOT have to do any bypasses or wiring loom replacements.

That is because the E.R.I.C charging system does not use an OBC.

Hey guys, I have a 2004 precedent and I want to bypass the OBC to use a DPI charger. Can I just remove the OBC all together? Would like the extra real estate to mount voltage reducer or tidy up the wiring. Thanks!

You can totally remove the OBC from the cart once the by-pass procedure is done.

Just remember the main negative cable goes thru the OBC and it has a "combo" crimp with the negative accessory wire at the Controller B- terminal.

You will need to plan to replace the main negative cable at the same time.

You will also need a 5/16 ring connector to crimp on the 10ga "accessory" negative wire that was crimped together with the OLD negative cable.

Thank you for the reply! I am upgrading to 2g wire so that will be ok. I will be able to have one wire to pack negitive with out the bolt going through the OBC.

Default Bypassing Club Car IQ/Excel OBC

2005 CC DS, Installed new selenoid, bypassed OBC (didn't help so took it out), new Trojan, tested Controller as documented in below link. Jumped selenoid, jumped ground. Front rear lights work, reverse beep works (even with key in off position), Motion roll away alert works. Key works, good 50+ voltage.

I can only get the cart to work by completely bypassing the selenoid and hooking red to yellow directly providing power to Controller.

What could cause this??? HELP

Sounds like the solenoid driver has failed in the controller. Basically what this means is that the controller is no longer capable of providing power to the solenoid coil to make it energize. Otherwise, the controller is probably fine. This often happens when a diode is installed backwards (or fails) on a solenoid. Please start a new thread and we can help you with your issue. Let's not clutter up the "sticky"
