Default alltrax controller burnt to a crisp- what is 7 blinks?

Check this out :

A guy brought this cart in the shop today, and said he was driving it when smoke started poring out the back and the cart stopped.

It is a 98 ds 48 volt. It has an alltrax controller npx4844( i believe).

Anyway the entire shop stinks of burnt smell now. This is a charcoal briqquete.

It appears he has a stock solenoid ( maybe 200 amp) and this 400 amp controller. I think the motor is beefed up, it looks like it is longer than most motors.

I had a used controller, exact same model so i installed it. Now i get 7 green blinks when i step on pedal.

What does the 7 green blinks mean??

My guess is the over-voltage code is incorrect and the motor is fried.
Unbolt the motor from the cart and inspect and smell it.

scotty, i did unhook the wires from the motor, and rang them out. None were going to ground, and they only rang out in the correct pairs. I thought that was how you could tell if the motor was fried?/

With the replacement controller installed, when you step on the pedal in reverse, for a fast milli second, you can hear the motor make a noise / "umph", but only once when you first turn key and step on pedal in reverse. It does not do that in forward.

ALSO, before i removed the old fried controller, as long as everything was still hooked up, the resistor on the solenoid was smelling and was smoking hot! Once i smelt and touched that hot resistor, is when i unhooked the motor wire and try the ring out process on the motor.

I remember awhile back, on a different cart, i had an issue, and Tahoe could tell the motor was a goner by the resistor was hot ( that was on a precedent though).

So even though the motor terminals seem to ring out ok, you think the motor is shot?
