PowerDrive 2 Charger problem
I have a 2003 CC IQ with a Powerdrive 2 charger. The charger seemed to work fine on my other CC that was a regen2 prior to this cart so I'm not sure if this issue is a NEW cart problem or a charger issue. The problem i'm having is the charger kicks on at 15amp then steadily trickles down to nothing and flickers at between nothing and 2 amps, then eventually stops at 0 after a few hours . It will not charge the pack over about 47.8 volts. Any help is greatly appreciated in advance.

Re: PowerDrive 2 Charger problem
Sounds like a battery problem to me. How old are the batteries?

Re: PowerDrive 2 Charger problem
i guess it's worth mentioning that I am running 2awg wires everywhere and made the hole in the OBC bigger as to accomodate for that cable. would that have anything to do with it metering the wrong power or anything? the cart functions and runs perfect otherwise, just cant seem to get it to charge. I'm just trying to rule out the OBC as a culprit and the any others as well before dropping 700 on new batteries.

Re: PowerDrive 2 Charger problem
yes I did drill the hole out. BUMMER. If I bypass the OBC with all the info on here would I still be able to charge the batteries for now (monitoring their voltage myself) until they were charged or will the charger not even work. I tried the trick of jumping the two wires inside the charger just now and it did the same thing.

You also need to run the negative 10ga wire that goes from the charger receptacle to the OBC directly to pack negative. |

Re: PowerDrive 2 Charger problem
So if i leave the jumper and hook that negative up to the pack along with the grey wire i should be good to go until I can
A) get a new OBC or B) get a DPI charger I read in the Stickies how to bypass the OBC I just wasn't sure if the stock charger would still work for now until I could get either A or B purchased. |

Re: PowerDrive 2 Charger problem
Jumping the 2 wires inside the charger is the same as running the "sense" wire to pack negative.
If You have the 2 wires jumped, You don't need to worry about the "sense" wire (but You need to run the 10ga to pack negative). Plug the DC cord of the charger on the cart First. Once You plug the charger AC plug in the wall, the charger will come ON immediately. The charger will not stop automatically, You will need to unplug the AC cord First, then the DC plug once the batteries get to 60v. Make sure the batteries do get to 60v, otherwise the issue may be the batteries. |
