Same basic questions Geno....if gas, does everything else that is stock work and I just have to buy the motor? If so, that sure seems a helluva lot easier and maybe cheaer in the long run by the time I buy all the battery related items.

I guess I would still need to know what else, if anything needs to be replaced as stock or not replaced at all like the MCOR, micro switches, axles, gearbox etc.

Sorry, I dont know crap about all of this.

1) I can not find anyone who knows for sure if the stock battery compartment will accomodate the 6 8v set up. I'll measure mine and see what I come up with. This is not mandatory, just a suggestion.

2) assuming it would not, I can not find anyone internet or otherwise that lists any "alternative" battery compartment. I am going by CC on Friday to check on this very thing.

3) I know I need to replace all the other electrical stuff like MCOR, switches etc but will all of those accomodate the series and 6 8v set up or would that open up a whole other can of worms? In other words, can I buy all replacement stock OEM parts and just do the motor, controller, and solenoid for series and 6 8v battery setup? The MCOR will need replacing and the Alltrax should compensate for any other set up you should choose, such as one out of a DS series cart if you wanted to.

4) Does this impact the IQ version somehow that I need different parts for other than the same OEM stock stuff? Oh yeah, say goodbye to the IQ. That is the whole reason I would make the conversion. The IQ is actually in the stock controller and the regen braking is a combo of controller and motor. You won't have any of this to worry with.

5) assuuming good answers above, do I need a different charge set up? It won't charge in the same manner, as in controlled my the OBC, but I feel pretty confindent the charger that comes with the cart will work. Did it get salted too?

Any enlightenment would be awesome. That Precedent comes apart real easy. It is almost like a lego set to be honest. I like it!

Thanks You betcha!

A picture of my Precedent in mid build. I am removing the flames and going back with pearl yellow with silver/purple ghost checker board swishing flag. Since this picture, I have installed new custom covered seats, stainless kick panel and steering column. (No aluminum diamond plate), Grant steering wheel, Tinted windshield, factory lightingm etc.... It is getting there.

Let me know what you find out about the battery setup. I don't know much about carts (yet) but I like the KISS (keep is simple stupid) methods as they seem to work better and carry much less headache in most things mechanical. If they can tell you how to do the 6 8v set up, thats the only hurdle I see at this point.

Really ,a lot of things to consider on this project,I would do some price shopping, and comparing, CC is proud of their parts, either way elect. or gas it would be a real learning experience for someone not really up on golf carts,Hang in there ,there is a lot of good info on this site as well as the web.GENO

Why 6 eight volt batteries? There is no reason what so ever you cannot use the factory type 12 volt batteries with a conversion.

I agree with Augusta, a series conversion may be the most cost effective way to get the "victim" running again.. I still have all the old stuff I yanked out of my DS (F/R switch, motor, controller), you're welcome to come get it to see if the series components can be adapted.. If the series motors will fit on the SepEx transaxle, you're all set!! Priority one though, you need to get the motor off of the transaxle.. The longer it sits, the bigger the battle will be to remove..

On converting to 8V batts... IIRC, Club Car offered a 8V conversion kit for the early Precedents.. I think they may still offer the 8V's as an option.. So the parts to ditch the 12V's may still be available...

One things for sure... A series conversion will make for a LOT simpler control harness..
