Cart won't move after charging
I have a Electric I.Q. Golf Car, 48 Volt Regen. Daughter charger it without turning key off (I think).
It will not move forward, or reverse. 1) It charges the batteries still. 2)The solenoid does not click. 3) Batteries have 49.9 combined volts checking last negative and positive of batteries. 4) 2 fuses (clear glass and rubber pull apart) at charging port are good. Fuse from last negative post of battery is good. 5)I have reset the OBC 6) With key on, cart in run, in forward, and pedal to floor these are readings I get: a)Positive lead to last positive of battery with negative lead to big negative post of solenoid is 1.2 volts. b) Negative lead to last negative of battery with positive lead to big positive of solenoid is 49.8 volts. 7) Using a jumper wire from last battery negative to small negative spade of solenoid will allow the solenoid to click when the key is turned on, but, the cart still will not move forward or reverse. I'm thinking it is the controller?? What other things can I test to verify what going on? God Bless, David B. |

Re: Cart won't move after charging
Others will know more than me, but I think I would unhook main neg battery cable for a few minutes the allow the obc to reset. That voltage is low, but I think the obc can keep the cart from running sometimes.

Re: Cart won't move after charging
I feel if you had taken time to read my post and really wanted to help me, instead of writing a sarcastic remark, you would have read in #5, I already tried that before making a post.
I know this site had many people on here who know the ins and outs of golf carts from my reading of past threads. I'm also sure I've missed something and wanting to check before buying a controller. God Bless, David B. |

Re: Cart won't move after charging
The OBC has several functions and it is possible to have a partial failure.
If the buzzer does not go OFF when You put the cart in Reverse, the OBC lockout circuit may have failed. Disconnect the OBC 6-pin connector and put a jumper between the White and Blue wires on the Harness connector. Check to see if the cart works. |

Re: Cart won't move after charging
David, no one is trying to be short with you. Sorry I did miss point 5.
The voltage you listed is not a fully charged battery pack voltage. Should be 50.9 Charging cart with key on will not hurt anything, so let the kids off the hook. Sometimes the obc supplies the neg circuit to the solenoid. Not all carts have that set up but some do. That is why I was thinking of the obc reset. Plus the low battery voltage. These other guys on here are really good at helping people find there problems, just be patent and do the test they suggest, they know we're they are going. I have leaned a lot from this site and try to give back when I think I can. I'm sure you will also in the future. Someone will post the same problem you are having now and you will know the answer and help them out. That's what makes this such a great site. |
