Default powerdrive 17930 transformer shorted.

breaker is popping

I have performed all of the tests on this charger and I think that the transformer is shorted internally...

is there any way to fix this transformer or do i need to find another one....

anyone have a donor?

Unfortunately it's probably going to be very unlikely that someone has a donor charger. And a new transformer isn't really cost effective. But here's some food for thought. Say you come across / buy another PowerDrive charger and it works. The charger is controlled by an On Board Computer on the golf cart. If the OBC were to fail next week, then you're out the cost of a charger / parts and an OBC, which is another couple hundred dollars. You have two PowerDrive chargers, correct? What I would do is make sure one works, and sell that off with whatever cart you decide to sell. Then with the profit of that sale, buy the DPI stand-alone and eliminate the OBC on the cart you're keeping and use the DPI with that

Correct. If the transformer has issues it's nothing but a boat anchor now

is there anything else that could cause the breaker to pop....i know it's not the cart because my other charger works fine...

I also switched the breaker, diodes, and relay from the good charger to the bad and have the same issue...the good charger still works fine with the parts from the bad....

Have you tried putting a different rectifier in it? The PD repair kits include a new relay, breaker, and rectifier. My charger kept popping its breaker a few years back and a repair kit fixed it...

By rectifier do you mean the diodes in the back of the charger?
