So you guys think with a 48V setup I will get up to around 20 with the motor I have. I will recable to 4 AWG. , no matter which way I go but here is my next question....Since the battery holders are set for 6 batteries...do I get 6 new 8V batteries or is there some other 'better' setup and a way of mounting it. Sorry for this last question it seems so basic but I dont want to assume and buy the wrong setup.

my reason for asking about the best battery setup is Im buying all new batteries no matter which way I go (am leaning towards the suggested 48V) but mounting and space is my question....do i get six 8V or eight 6V or four 12V's and then the mounting issues come to mind...

8 volters will fit in the same space as the 6 volters, same size
Well that answers the battery questions...so if someone could confirm my motor will handle the 48V and give me more speed as suggested by "Bacord"...you have given me the answers I need...and it seems recabling to 4awg. is also a worthwhile little job...right?

AWESOME!! THANKS

Yes and yes....When recabling replace all of the 6 gauge wires not just the battery to battery ones but the Fand R and motor cables as well.....

well thats the type info I was looking for..THANK YOU...The motor tag listed above, do you think it will be ok for the 48V upgrade and give me the speed boost suggested by "Bacord" now that you have the specifics of the motor...so my next question is any 48V solenoid or anypart #'s or links available from anyone here. I just want to get all my info before I attack this monster and so far so good.
Thanks again for the responses

Just remember extended low speeds can result in a meltdown of some components The more WOT you can run the better. Any one of our sponsors can hook you up with a quality 48v solenoid like a WHite....

Post Re: Speed from 97 CC Vglide 36V

Hey I was actually reading the CC shop manual ( go figure...reading) and there was a note in there that said if going to 48V to replace the #4 and #5 resistor coils and it gave part#'s. Is it worth trying to find these or just run what i brung...most of time it will be WOT...unless I catch uo to a slower cart on the cart paths because I will soon be going warp speed

I even found a 48V schaurer??(something like that) charger for $175 locally on craigslist..I think I may call on it tomorrow..I copy/pasted the info in case I need.
