Default Electric Club Car slow when cold

I have a mid to late 90's 36v electric club car that is slow and no torque when you first start off in the morning. As you get a little distance and heat in the motor it starts to run fine. Could it be electric motor/brushes need to be replaced. Could the controller be bad? Batteries are holding at 38.5 volts after full charge so I think I'm fine there.

I'd change the gear case lube first. 30w motor oil or 80-90 gear lube.

Where do you live? It might just be the outside temp.

I live in Suffolk, Va. It's not that cold here but the cart does it even in the summer months. When the cart moves for about 50 yards it is much faster than my gas EZ GO. Not a lot of shops around here that want to work on carts from the 90's.

After market motor? Could be wound for speed, not torque.

Could be bearings in motor.

Here is another SWAG. Does it have a precharge resistor across the solenoid. It might be taking that long for the capacitors in the controller to charge and robbing you of torque/acceleration.

I think I found the problem. Tried pulling motor off and rotor is stuck onto the drive unit of differential. The commutator has deep grooves cut into it and brushes look rough also. Looks like I need to find a new motor. Any suggestions on getting the rotor off? Lots of WD40 for now.

Don't use WD 40 use a lubricant.
