How do you pull 12v from a 48v setup?
If you have 4, 12v batteries ran in series to produce 48 volts, how do you pull 12v?
Can you just hook the + and - to a single battery? And does it matter which battery? |

Yes you can, but a DC step down converter is the best option. Otherwise premature battery failure can/will happen.

Would it be worth it to add a stand alone battery just for the lights?
I'm wiring up the MJ delux kit on my DS this weekend. I dont have a step down converter and I'm not sure exactly where to hook up the lights. |

I have this set up. I put a piece of aluminum across the frame behind the battery area. This is only a 12 amp reducer but works great for my needs. I have headlights, tail lights, brake lights, overhead fan, and power outlet for 12 volt power.

And here I was thinking it was as easy as cut a hole, and tighten a few bolts....

Get a Carts Unlimited 30 amp 48-12v reducer. I've had mine for three years now and love it...

It would reduce the 48 volts to 12 volts so that all 4 batteries are drained at the same time, as opposed to just one having the extra load of the lights. I told yall written directions confuse me. |
