Differences between 2 CC motors
I am moving the electrical system from a 1998 CC to the better 1996 CC frame which is already lifted. The 1996 motor model number is 5BC59JBS6361. It's condition is questionable so can I move over the 1998 motor, 5BC59JBS62513? With a lifted car I'm reading that different motors are required. If I purchased a replacement how do I determine what to get. Thanks.

Re: Differences between 2 CC motors
Pretty handy little chart Glassk, I like it.
It looks like the 98 motor may be a Sepex, but the 1996 is a series motor. If that's the case, they are not interchangeable. Does the 1998 motor have a speed sensor (pigtail and wires) on the end of the motor? If it does, it's not gonna work with the 96 unless it also has a speed sensor. Based on the info on the 1996 it's a 2.0HP 48Volt motor, which I've never seen nor heard of. If you could post pictures of the motor I'd be able to help you better. |

Re: Differences between 2 CC motors
I've uploaded a picture of both motors that should include the electrical pigtails on both motors. They both show 3.2hp. The 1998 CC was not lifted, just std height with std tires. The 1996 was lifted large tires but the electrical system was a hybrid and a pain to analyze & diagnose. So I've the electrical out of the 1996 and moving all electrical components to the 1996 lifted chassis. Other posts talked about using the right motor for a lifted cart. So I'm stopped until I figure out which motor to use. If the 1998 motor will work on a lifted cart then I'm set. So that's the first question.
For clarification, the 1996 motor has the red, green & black wires connected to the harness. On the 1998 the green wire is cut. Thanks for the help. |

Re: Differences between 2 CC motors
They're both the same. Red tag GE motors for the Regen 1 or Regen 2 drive system.

Re: Differences between 2 CC motors
So you guys are saying that even though they have different model numbers, they are the same? Which means if one was compatible with a lifted cart, the other one is also.
I would just need to wire the 1996 the same way the 1998 was wired, ie, cut the green wire? |

Re: Differences between 2 CC motors
On my '96 Regen 1, its the green wire (when cut) that disables Regen and the cart "can" go slightly faster (downhill mostly). Usually its cut during the process of removing the dynamic braking solenoid and coil.

Re: Differences between 2 CC motors
Why would someone not just unplug the 3-pin connector?
