1991 club car with resistor coils
I was going to lift my buggy but a guy at the local club car store said if I lifted it too high or with too wide of a tire the resistor coils would get hot and burn the switch up. It would burn it up constantly. Also changing everything to run a controller is very expensive as well. I have decided to either stay stock or lower it with some 10" wheels on 205/50/10 low pro tires. Any comments on this.

Re: 1991 club car with resistor coils
I will agree with what the guy said and Crash. My 91 was stock height for a while and I loved it. Nothing wrong with stock height. I did however update mine to a controller setup.

Re: 1991 club car with resistor coils
On a Series cart a controller provides a much more efficient slow speed driving, it however does nothing for high speed.
If You going to use the cart as a neighborhood cruiser, add a VGlide by-pass to the cart and it will perform much more efficiently at high speed. The thread below has other good information about making sure the VGlide pads are properly aligned. The more surface to surface contact You get not only reduces the resistance which minimizes the heat created, but also helps dissipate the heat produced. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...tting-hot.html Post #16 has the circuit modification to add the by-pass solenoid. |

Re: 1991 club car with resistor coils
Thanks for the info. Yea I'm thinking of keeping it stock if not lowering it a little. I just got through painting it fluorescent green so it will shine like a diamond haha.
