I will check.

So in addition to the roll-away brake, the reverse buzzer does sound when pushed backwards? that would be really strange.

Yes and that is the source of my frustration.
If you put it in foward gear it surges at full speed and when put in reverse the solenoid cuts out after 2 seconds.

Is that a stock controller or an upgrade that you have?

I would start with this troubleshooting guide and check everything until you find something wrong. If this is the controller you have.

This is still the most significant piece of information and the one that cannot be technically explained by your comments about the buzzer.

The speed sensor has no way to determine which direction the wheels/motor are rotating, and unlike the Regen brake, the dynamic/roll away brake does not power the Armature circuit to slow the motor down.

When the Key Switch is OFF and the FNR is in Neutral, the controller is idle until it detects a pulse coming from the speed sensor.

It then turns the Field driver ON and shorts the Armature driver (B+ to M-).

If the pulses from the speed sensor continue, after a few seconds the controller starts beeping the Reverse buzzer.

That procedure is the same regardless if You are pushing the cart Forward or Backwards as the controller does not know or care.

If the MOSFET that is in parallel with the Armature driver (Flywheel Mosfet) is bad or not being activated, the current would still flow (brake action) when the Motor is pushed in Reverse (with the Field driver ON).

That is because MOSFETs conduct in reverse polarity (anti-parallel diode junction), but without that MOSFET ON (Armature shorted), there would be no resistance when pushed forward.

If You continue to push the cart Forward, the Reverse buzzer however should beep as the pulses from the speed sensor will continue indicating the cart is still moving.

I hope You post the answer when You get it working as it is a very interesting problem.

Indeed it is. I've NEVER seen a speed sensor that would only respond in one direction.

And neither have I. That is why I am stumped.
I am considering whether the motor side of the speed sensor is bad.

The speed sensor is red, green, and black wires.
