Removing shackle bolts
I have a 2003 DS & wanting to put longer shackles on. Do I have to remove back body to get top bolts out? The head is facing the bag well! I've thought about removing the black plastic & drilling a hole for bolt head to go through. Any thoughts?

Re: Removing shackle bolts
I did this the other day on mine and lifted the body enough to get the bolts out but is somewhat of a pain. On my friends DS someone had drilled some 3/4" holes beneath the bag well cover. It is not seen and is simple to remove bolts if you ever need to do it again. I will drill holes in mine before I go to the trouble to lift the body again. I replaced all the plastic fasteners on mine because it ruined most of them pulling the bag well cover. I got a package of 15 fasteners at AutoZone for a reasonable price.

Re: Removing shackle bolts
Just thinking about it. I think I would use cut off wheel and cut the bolt. Then put new bolts in the other way if the would be possible.

Re: Removing shackle bolts
ctd, once you drill the 2" holes in the body, do you plug the holes then that you drilled?

Re: Removing shackle bolts
no ... that's the cool thing about it , the bag well covers it
note : you cut so the bag well does cover it, about 1/2" from edge |

Re: Removing shackle bolts
Turns out after I drilled 3/4 holes, I'm not going to have to extend the shackles! The rear seat kit didn't seem to effect the ride height.
