Default 1,000 amp controller?

I stopped at a local cart shop yesterday. I was on my cart, The owner was trying to talk me into trading for the same cart . All his selling point was It has a 1,000 amp controller and a big motor. He was telling me he can run 38 mph as it sits. But he would not pull out on the street and run me. I get 26 to 28 MPH In it alone. Just your thoughts . I am still pretty new to the whole carting game.

I wouldn't even think of running my cart that fast! Carts are not designed to go that fast and the brakes (usually only on rear wheels) are not designed to stop them from those speeds. CG is too high as well. If you are getting 26 to 28 that is as fast as I would even think of going. I have mine limited on purpose to 25!

Besides that it's illegal to have a LSV street cart that can exceed 25mph.

I would be weary.. If I had a cart with a 1000 amp controller and a big motor I would have that sucker out any chance I had.. And if a was possibly a pending sale.. Sounds fishy.

he was asking $ 5,995.00 for it. That is about the normal around here for 2016's. This was a 2003. I will keep mine . I really want to build a FAST cart. But It is going to take some Time. Medical bill's keep showing up at my door. BUT some day I will do a lowered fast cart.
With me alone 26-28MPH. With the wife we get 23 - 25MPH ,and loaded down with the family ??? I just ride around going to yard sakes when all of us are on it.

Can anybody provide a link to a 1000 amp golf car controller? I've been in the business for 15 years and I've never heard of one that big.
