Whats the secret to getting the steering wheel off?
I got the nut loose, but I can't get the wheel off the shaft. Do I just whack it a couple times with a hammer, or continue to nearly bend it in half trying to pull on it?

I bumped mine with a rubber mallet from the bottom -> upwards.

Had mine off just last weekend. Rubber mallet from behind close to the shaft. One side then the opposite side until it breaks loose.

Re: Whats the secret to getting the steering wheel off?
I got the nut loose and ran it to the top, spray around spline with a little BP blaster, with my feet up on the dash and knees under the wheel pushing upward , I hit the shaft a few times with brass block and a hammer and it popped off.

This sounds fun for when I put the dash kit on.

Re: Whats the secret to getting the steering wheel off?
Two Big ball-peen hammers. Take the nut off and thread it on by hand until it stops. Put one of the hammers through the upper part of the steering wheel and sit the ball of the hammer in the cup of the lock-nut on the steering shaft. Pull outward on the handle of the hammer, pulling on the steering wheel as if you were trying to pull it off. While pulling, use the other hammer to hit the flat end of the hammer. The vibration will knock the wheel loose from the splines and it'll "pop" up against the bottom of the lock nut. You may have to hit it a couple of times, but I've been 100% successful with this method.
