Default 12 v converter or extra battery?

I know people use both a small extra 12v battery or just run off my madjax 12 volt converter? Not looking to run much, A few lights ( L.E.D.S ) and a radio.
It would be nice to have a 12volt charger for the phone, Gps. You know just some small stuff. Witch would be better ? and if I run off the converter Would I hook the ground's up to the pack or the ground on the converter? The ground on the converter runs to the pack anyways? Any Help would be great, Crash Test Dummy, You may be getting a call or company this weekend. Depends on the rain we are going to get.
I was thinking a small lawnmower battery for the weight?

I prefer the Converter, we already have plenty of batteries in the cart

If You already have a Madjax 48v->12v converter, that will work great for a radio as well as it provides a "constant voltage" output.

You can get 12v->usb charger port in any shape (round, rectangular, etc), some even blend with the switches You may be using for the accessories.

Most converters have a "common negative" so the 12v and the 48v share the same pack negative.

I prefer the aux batt due to the interference you hear in stereo while driving. I put anOptina Blue top deep cycle marine batt behind dash of my streetcart. Added a small charger on board that gets power when the main on board charger is plugged up.

I went with aux. battery. I wanted the main pack to power the motor only. Everything else runs off the aux. Marine battery.

I went with the converter after doing a 48v upgrade this month. It looks to be the same one madjax uses except the name isnt on the box and I think I spent about $59 shipped for it the beginning of march.

Specs was:30-55v Input, 12v 30amp output,
Wiring harness: Ground, Power In, Switch, Constant, Power Out

when I did my 48v upgrade, I kept the 36v SW182 HD FNR Reversing Contactor. So I'm running my key switch on 32 volts, Its a Ezgo RXV switch. I used the N to power the switch on for the converter but the power input has full pack voltage.

The Madjax youtube page has a how to install on one and the wires are even the same color. They probably only rebadge and sell them.

I'm running a Stereo, 36" Light Bar, 12" Light Bar, LED head/tails, Led Whip Antenna & USB Charger. I love not having to charge a spare battery like my neighbor. We were out riding this past saturday night and he had to turn back early due to the battery was almost dead.

But to each their own.
