Default Voltage

How do you check total voltage versus single battery. Do you checking individually and add up? Sorry for the preschool question. Thanks

There is one battery with two positive connectors on it, and there is one battery with two negative connectors on it. Place the voltmeter on the + on the first battery, and the - on the second and you should see 36 or 48v.

If you want to check a single battery, put the probes on the + and - on the same battery and you should only get 12v.

Another way of saying this is that every battery in the pack is connected to the battery next to it. Each post has a cable which goes to another battery. The batteries are connected in series positive to negative. There are only two posts which connect to cables which do not go to another battery, these two posts are the main positive and main negative connections for the cart. It is here that you check the pack voltage. Individual battery voltage can be checked by putting the test leads on the plus and minus of any battery in the pack without removing any cables.

Main (+) ---{+ 8 -}---{+ 8 -}---{+ 8 -}---{+ 8 -}---{+ 8 -}---{+ 8 -}---Main (-)

If you take a reading from Main (+) to Main (-) you get total pack voltage and if you take a reading from the + & - on any one battery to get the voltage for that one battery...
