Batteries dead and I have extra cash in my pocket. Good by toaster parts
96 Club DS 36V
Last spring I bought a cart because they are now road legal in our town. I picked up the DS for cheap with an odds and ends battery pack and drove it all summer. I loved it but by the end of the summer I had two batteries that were completely shot. A reading on the multi-meter would show two batteries go completely flat with any kind of load. Using the cart as a neighborhood cart we are usually going 1 to 2 miles per trip with no stops. Mild hills and mild off road (taller grass than a golf course). Fast forward to the first warm day of the year and I pull the cart out and charge it up over night. I made it 100 ft at 1 mph before I gave up. I would like to upgrade to a controller from the vglide. I would also like to look into a 48 volt conversion. This means a new charger as well. After a lot of reading I understand that this is possible with my current motor?? I have put together the following parts list. DPI charger w/ crossfoot connector Scotty's C54 kit for Off Road and Hunting. 48 to 12 converter for light kit. Currently the cart is completely stock but I would eventually like to add big wheels and a lift. Extend my range and get a lot farther off road Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated. |

Should have been on charge already, you will kill a 48 volt pack by not taking care of them,... |

Re: Batteries dead and I have extra cash in my pocket. Good by toaster parts
I left it on charge all winter, I read up on the charger that came with the cart and it was supposed to have a float function. When I say I charged it over night I check pack voltage and saw it was low so I cycled the charger and let it do its thing.
The pack was near the end of its life when I bought the cart and had three different brand batteries with several date ranges. |

I received this email from a customer this morning.
March 21, 2016 Scotty, Thank you for sending the EZGO C74 upgrade kit so quickly. I can't even tell you how pleased I am with the results. Your kit was easy to follow and the parts well-made and packaged. All-in-all it took about 6 hours to install the kit but I took my time and checked and rechecked everything multiple times. I held my breath a couple times especially when I connected the last battery cable and finally, turning the key. Everything worked like a charm. Mr Newman 3/1/16 I LOVE the 48v conversion!!! My cart runs so much better now. Thanks for all the advice and good products. Dave B 10-11-15 Scotty, Many thanks for the great conversion kit. Schematics were simple and easy to follow. Cart is up and running with no problems whatsoever. Mr Tracy 09-23-15 Thanks again – The conversion worked wonders on my cart. Craig |

I was thinking about making my own. I am fairly mechanically inclined person and have been rebuilding cars for several years now. 2 awg by the foot from the hardware store and a couple dozens ends with a little solder. Thats a fun afternoon for me.

Can you confirm that I can run 48V on a 36V ds cart? |

Good call on the high strand count. I haven't really looked to see what the hardware store has, I just know they sell high awg by the foot. Might have to rethink my plans.
