Pull the motor off and give it the sniff test. If it passes the sniff test. Check for unwanted continuity between any F terminals and any A terminals. If no unwanted continuity is found then check resistance between the 2 F terminals and post that # here.

One common cause of controller failure is motor failure. Make sure it didn't overheat. I would suspect that it might have with the large tires you have.

Thanks scottyb, I'll check those when I get home and post reply, soooo....IF motor is OK my undersized solenoid and 4ga wire didn't have anything to do with controller smoking? And IF motor is bad that most likely caused controller and solenoid failure?

Yeah, although I never like to run a 500 control with small wires and solenoid because resistance builds heat within the system. Better to have everything matched and that includes the tire size.
Just to put this in perspective 30" GC tires is equivalent to putting 75% larger tires on your car or truck.
So if the truck has 26" tires replace them with 45" tires and see how it goes

We don't sell the OBC stud kit we give it away with the cable set that uses it. You can make your own using my diagram on the cartsunlimited.net website

Ok cool. One last question....I decided on ordering a big torque motor to handle tires better, both Plum Quick and D&D said they could build me one to handle the 30s....who would you suggest? Prices were close also

D&D! They make high torque versions designed for high gear ratios or larger tires and I have one on my cart. Mine is Model number ES24-14. I have had it on my Yamaha cart for almost 2 months and it is a big improvement. I have 9:1 gears and standard tires.

That looks okay. You should have continuity between 2 Fs and between 2 As but no continuity between any A and any F
