Default New To Forum have 1995 CC DS 48v

Bought a 1995 CC recently and made several modifications...6" lift, 12" wheels, 23" tires, carbon fiber dash, rear seat, fender flares. When I bought the cart everything worked perfectly. This cart had been garaged kept since new, frequently maintained and had brand new Trojan batteries and cables installed. The cart was amazing clean, very little dirt any where. Has factory head lights and tail lights and horn. Everything worked perfect until after a weekend electrical storm. The cart was plugged into the charger during the storm...immediately after the storm I moved the cart and noticed the head lights no longer work. The tail lights work fine. I have not located any blown fuses..............anyone have any suggestions regarding what to look for next? Noticed the new post title is messed up............"10995 should be 1995"

It would be next to impossible for that to have resulted from a power surge. The surge would have had to go through your house (or whatever), through the charger, into the batteries, out of the batteries, and into the voltage reducer to hurt anything. I know what you are thinking but the storm has to be coincidental.

I would swap the headlight switch out and see what happens. If your lights are grounded to the frame maybe check that too.

Thanks for the suggestions. Bulbs check out fine as do the wires. switch seems to be ok too. I noticed the back up buzzer has also stopped working.......I plan to just start chasing each wire from the front of the cart to the back of the cart. Since i have factory lights, I'm sure it still has a voltage reducer to drop down to 12V, but i have not located that specific part. Can you guys tell me what it looks like and where it might be located......Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum Pistokcha. On my 95 DS it's positioned under the driver in the frame.

On my 1996 there is a small plastic box mounted to the frame in front of the batteries with a fuse block in it, The bolts were a pain to get out but underneath there were 3 fuses, one of which I recall was for the headlights / horn. If you have power to the headlight switch it check to see if it is coming off battery #2 thru the fuse block up to the switch, I can send a pic later today.

I ran into this the other day on somebody's cart. The rear tails worked but headlights didnt. In her case I think there was a broken wire in the harness somewhere as it was intermittent on and off. In any case it is an easy fix instead of trying to chase it down having to tear the hood off and pull wires out off loom. Just verify your ground from headlight bulb ground wire to buss bar is good through VM and splice a new wire from switch to headlight wire. Depending on which cart and what headlights it will be either blue or white and have 2 wires going into one spade connector. On DS carts there is an orange and yellow if I remember right, the orange goes to the front headlight and yellow to rear and they both meet at the headlight switch. You just have to remove that wire since you dont want it hot anymore and hook up your spliced wire...headlights back on.
