Default Tire Size

Is a 205/30-14 tire smaller in dia then a 205/40-14

Technically speaking, from those tires sizes, yes, "30" series tire should be slightly "shorter" in the side wall area than the "40" series. However, this is probably very little and varies from manufacturer to manufacturer, tire to tire.

The "Aspect Ratio" of the sidewall of a tire in relation to its width is what the "30" and "40" stand for. Basically, 30% of 205 (mm) is the height of the sidewall of the first size and 40% of 205 (mm) is the height of the second size.

Real life measurements will depend on tire air pressure, temperature, tread type, weight of vehicle, etc.

Thanks i installed 205/40-14 in tires and wheels on a 05 precedent elect also installed the pro lift gar on front and the tires rub when turned.I wanted to know if the 205/30-14 might work better

I think "how much" it rubs is the question. I don't believe you would alleviate the rub issue by going to the "30" series tire. How bout trying maybe wheel spacers?

I willl let you know actually i Did do the installation I just sold the parts to a guy if he brings it to me I will check it out and see.if i can use the spacers i will be more then Happy to pay you
